Description / Blash Modern Solid Hand Knotted Beige Wool Area Carpet 3' X 5'
A solid hand-knotted field is a rarer object than a patterned one. Without drawing to hide behind, the wool itself has to carry the rug. Every irregularity in the spinning, every shift in the dye lot, every pass of the weaver's hand becomes part of the surface. Blash works in this discipline. A single beige field that reads at distance as a calm ground and at close approach as a textured wool surface with the breath of the loom in it.
One weaver worked this 3' x 5' (91 x 152 cm) piece across about three months in India. Wool was hand-spun in two slightly different lots so the field carries gentle abrash rather than reading flat. The knotting is Persian asymmetric on a cotton foundation. The pile was sheared low to keep the colour clean and let the texture do the work the pattern would otherwise carry.
The composition
A single warm beige field, hand-spun and undyed beyond the natural variation of the fleece. A narrow plain border in matched tone closes the rug. There are no figures, no medallion, no contrasting colour. The work is in the surface. Beige ages by deepening warmth. The wool gains a low sheen with use that the new piece cannot show.
What you are buying
A hand-knotted solid in the West, by a respected dealer, runs three to four times this figure for comparable density and fibre. This is contemporary weaving by hand on a vertical loom, on a cotton foundation, in hand-spun wool, at an entry point to collecting hand-finished pieces. A hand-knotted neutral appreciates with use; a tufted or machine alternative does not.
The piece in a room
3' x 5' (91 x 152 cm) suits a writing desk, the side of a bed, a small entry, or the calm under a leather reading chair. Beige sits against walnut, against limestone, against waxed teak, against painted concrete. The piece pairs with strong colour above it; framed art in saturated tone reads cleaner above a quiet floor than above a busy one.
Conservation
Rotate end for end twice a year. Vacuum weekly, suction only, no beater bar. Blot spills with a clean cotton cloth at the moment of incident. A wool-trained hand wash every six years preserves the lanolin and the warm character of the wool. The piece runs two generations of careful use.

Auspicious Placement
Vastu Guidance
Traditional Vastu Shastra recommendations for placing this carpet in your home. Choose based on the room and the corner you wish to ground.
Recommended direction: South-west (stability), or under the seating in the West / North-west.
Earth-tone carpets (red, ochre, terracotta, brown) in the South-west bring stability and grounding energy. Avoid covering the central Brahmasthan (centre) of the room; leave a small bare floor space.
Recommended direction: South-west or West side of the bed.
Soft pastels (cream, dusty rose, sage, blue-grey) work well in bedrooms for restful energy. Avoid bright reds at the head of the bed. Place the carpet so it extends 18–24 inches on each side of the bed.
Recommended direction: West or North-west zone.
Place carpet under the dining table such that all chairs sit on it when pulled out. Earth tones (terracotta, ochre, beige) and floral patterns are auspicious. Avoid black or dark blue under the dining area per Vastu.
Recommended direction: North-east corner of the home or the pooja room itself.
Auspicious colours: maroon, deep red, saffron, ivory, gold-yellow. Wool naturally resists fire risk near diya lamps. Use a small 2'×3' or 3'×5' size — larger carpets are not traditional in pooja spaces. Sit facing East or North while praying.
Recommended direction: Just inside the main door (East or North-facing entrance is ideal).
A small 3'×5' carpet at the entrance brings welcoming energy. Choose warm tones (red, ochre, gold). The carpet should be in good condition — frayed or stained welcome mats are considered inauspicious.
Vastu guidance is traditional and may vary by region and family practice. Consult a Vastu expert for personalised advice.
