Description / Armino Persian Traditional Floral Rust Hand Knotted Wool Carpet 63168
The pattern in front of you descends from a tradition of village and workshop weaving that crossed Persia, the Caucasus, and Anatolia for two centuries. The geometry is older than any of the towns it was woven in, and the colour discipline was refined by generations of weavers who never met one another. The line continues here.
The loom carried this piece for several months. Hand-tied knots at approximately 145 per square inch on a cotton foundation. Hand-spun wool dyed in small lots from madder root, indigo, oak gall, and walnut hull, each batch matured in copper vats for two to three weeks before the wool was lowered.
The composition
A primary medallion sits over a softer secondary field. The rust grounds the composition; the ivory works as relief above it. Madder reds carry warmth across the field while indigo guard bands hold the edges. The rug arrives ready to begin a long life under foot.
What you are buying
An equivalent piece sourced through a London or New York dealer runs at three to five times this number once shipping, duty, and margin are layered on. The work is the same. The wool is the same. The dye is the same. What you are paying for at this price is the carpet itself, without the chain of resale that inflates equivalents abroad.
The piece in a room
At the size as listed, the rug works as the central composition of a room arranged around it. Mid-tone walls hold the saturation. The rust carries warmth into the architecture without competing with upholstery or art.
Conservation
A vegetable-dyed hand-knotted carpet is a long-lived object. Rotate every six months. Vacuum weekly without a beater bar. Blot spills with cotton, never rub. Specialist hand-wash every five years. With this routine the rug will see out two human generations.

Auspicious Placement
Vastu Guidance
Traditional Vastu Shastra recommendations for placing this carpet in your home. Choose based on the room and the corner you wish to ground.
Recommended direction: South-west (stability), or under the seating in the West / North-west.
Earth-tone carpets (red, ochre, terracotta, brown) in the South-west bring stability and grounding energy. Avoid covering the central Brahmasthan (centre) of the room; leave a small bare floor space.
Recommended direction: South-west or West side of the bed.
Soft pastels (cream, dusty rose, sage, blue-grey) work well in bedrooms for restful energy. Avoid bright reds at the head of the bed. Place the carpet so it extends 18–24 inches on each side of the bed.
Recommended direction: West or North-west zone.
Place carpet under the dining table such that all chairs sit on it when pulled out. Earth tones (terracotta, ochre, beige) and floral patterns are auspicious. Avoid black or dark blue under the dining area per Vastu.
Recommended direction: North-east corner of the home or the pooja room itself.
Auspicious colours: maroon, deep red, saffron, ivory, gold-yellow. Wool naturally resists fire risk near diya lamps. Use a small 2'×3' or 3'×5' size — larger carpets are not traditional in pooja spaces. Sit facing East or North while praying.
Recommended direction: Just inside the main door (East or North-facing entrance is ideal).
A small 3'×5' carpet at the entrance brings welcoming energy. Choose warm tones (red, ochre, gold). The carpet should be in good condition — frayed or stained welcome mats are considered inauspicious.
Vastu guidance is traditional and may vary by region and family practice. Consult a Vastu expert for personalised advice.
